Setting:
The fairy tale of Harry Potter is set in modern day England which then leads to the past.
Characters:
The main characters in this book are Harry,Ron and Hermionie.
Plot:
The story is started by the one who "shall not be named" Voldemort. In the school (in the past) there are usually weird things going on. Here’s a few of them: a magical room with moving stairs, a room with live pictures and rooms you would only find out about is if you fell straight through a wall. Back to the plot. Harry,Ron and Hermionie find out something thats not right with the school and its not the rooms. The evil one Voldemort is very weak and is feeding on poor unicorns and before you know it there is a vicious race between Harry,Ron and Hermionie vs Voldemort and his partner for the precious Philosopher's stone.
Style of writing:
The best thing about this book is the way it’s written. You will find a lot of dialogue and some monologue also. There is a lot of made up words when any of the students preform spells. There is plenty of good English in this book. For some of the words you may need a dictionary. Harry,Ron and Hermionie are very good students but laden with adventure. The restricted parts of the school is like a whole new play-ground for them.
My view:
I highly recommend this book to 10-14 year olds. Higher might find it a bit boring.(expect a fairy tale ending.

Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone is the first book in the Harry Potter series, written by J.K Rowling. It is an adventure novel which revolves around the world of witchcraft and wizardry. Harry is sent to live with his Uncle Vernon and his Aunt Petunia because Harry’s parents had died 10 years prior to this , supposedly in a car crash, and harry is left as an orphan. The story starts off in the Dursley household in Privet Drive. When Harry is 11 years old, he is taken away to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, by their giant gamekeeper, Hagrid. The rest of the story takes place in Hogwarts, where he learns wizard sports and learns the truth about his parent’s death.
Overall, I enjoyed reading this book as I think it has a very interesting plot and in certain parts of the story a lot of tension is created which makes you want to read on. (:
