The Diary Of A Young Girl
‘The Diary of a Young Girl’ is the diary of teenage jew, Anne Frank in Holland during World War Two. The diary starts a month before Anne and her family are forced into hiding in July 1942. Anne, her sister and parents go into hiding with another family and a German dentist to live in a secret annex above the shop her father managed. We see how Anne’s life changes when she lives in the annex. We also see the tension and conflicts between the different personalities as they struggle to cope with being confined in such a small space.
During the two years in hiding we see the change in Anne’s personality and way of looking at life. Anne becomes more independent even though the longer they’re in hiding the more she believes she'll never be able to get out. When reading this book we also see what happened to Jews and what other Jews had to do to get away from the danger during the time of Hitler’s rule.
Fearing discovery by the Gestapo we see the struggles of Anne’s life, the tension between the two families and the effects of living in such a confined place. This is a very good book and I would recommend it to anyone.
